The Pending Home Sales Index Fell 7.6% in January 2010.  However, The Pending Home Sales Index is up nearly 12.3% from a year ago.  Keep in mind that the Pending Home Sales Index is based on contracts signed in January 2010.

Existing Home Sales Down 7.2% In January & Up 11.5 % Year Over Year

Existing Home Sales 7.4% In Northern Virginia & Nationwide


According to the National Association of Realtors ( NAR), Existing Home Sales were up 7.4% in November.  This accounts for 6.54 million units and is the highest increase since February 2007. This is an increase of some 44% since November 2008, and marks a new record.

Diana O’lick of CNBC reports that Existing Home Sales jumped 10.1% in October.  Nearly 6.1 million Units sold which is up 23.5% from October, 2008, or year to year.  These numbers both mark record highs.
